A Season of Song & Story…
Under the baton of Music Director/Conductor Anna Binneweg, our 2026-2027 Season promises to be a celebration of emotion and evocative music that touches us all. Themed A Season of Song & Story…, our performances will transport you to many delightful places through unforgettable classical masterworks and contemporary classics from stage and screen, offering something for every music lover. We will begin with ¡Viva la Música! A Night of Fire & Flare, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, on Saturday, September 19, at Maryland Hall. Featured composers include American composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, Spanish composer Oscar Navarro, Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, Cuban composer Luis Hernández Alfonso, Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera, and Mexican composer Arturo Márquez. Several of the pieces will be interpreted by acclaimed guest soprano Colleen Daly.
In October, it’s time for the youngest members of our audience (and their adults) to enjoy the annual Halloween Spooktacular! Held at St John’s College’s Key Auditorium on Sunday, October 25, Master of Ceremonies Michael Hughes will introduce our featured guest artists, the Violin/Viola Marcolivia Duo. Musical selections include classical and contemporary music and a costume contest (with prizes) for all ages.
February is the month of love, and our concert, Echoes of Love & Longing, on Sunday, February 21 at Maryland Hall will include romantic classics by Strauss, Elgar, Tchaikovsky, and pieces for orchestra and violin to feature our guest artist, violinist Irina Muresanu. Broadneck High School music students will play side-by-side with our orchestra members to continue our commitment to and nurturing of the next generation of musicians.
On Sunday, April 11, It’s Magic! Hits of the Hi-Fi Era, Maryland Hall will swing with renown vocalist Joan Ellison who will interpret music you know and love, made famous by Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Lena Horne and more. The orchestra will also perform pieces by Leonard Bernstein and Leroy Anderson. Youth will take the stage as well as we present the winners of the 2027 Young Artists Concerto Competition.
Our final concert of the season, Landscapes of Radiance & Light, on Saturday, June 5, at Maryland Hall, will feature the Naptown Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus, directed by Jeanne Kelly, and Broadneck High School’s Apex Arts Vocal Ensemble, directed by Lauren Walker. The music will include pieces by Rossini, Copland, Delius, and more.
